You need a permit to hike Angels Landing. Apply online in advance or enter the day-before lottery.
Avoid the crowds and the heat by hiking early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
The hike is 5.4 miles round trip and gains 1,500 ft in elevation. Build your stamina and strength before you go.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and layers. Wear sturdy shoes and gloves for the chains.
The hike starts at the Grotto shuttle stop and follows the West Rim Trail to Scout Lookout. Then, the fun begins.
The final half mile is along a narrow ridge with steep drop-offs. Use the chains for support and follow the etiquette.
